KOI is a team of 5 gamers in the Esports community — specifically within the popular first-person shooter series, Counter-Strike. I designed their visual identity to be used across digital and printed marketing and event materials.
KOI sought a visual identity that would make a significant and visual impact amongst their rivals. The team name was inspired by the golden koi skin on the desert eagle handgun in Counter-Strike. It’s a high risk, high reward weapon; users of it often display a heightened amount of confidence and perseverance.
A Japanese symbol of good fortune, strength, and discipline, the koi is already embedded with its own intrinsic nuance and meaning. The combination of these two parallel insights led to a visual identity equally as ardent and intrepid as its namesake.
